Destinations in Guatemala:

Finca Ixobel

Finca Ixobel is the perfect place to get away from it all for a few days and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Guatemalan lowlands. Surrounded by pine forest and tropical jungle, Finca Ixobel is a working farm in the department of El Peten, about halfway between Rio Dulce and Flores.

Many travelers visit the farm on their way to or from Tikal and there's a variety of activities to keep them occupied while they are there. Among the most popular are tours on horseback — from short rides through the pine forest to full-blown jungle trekking for up to four days. Some of the nearby caves in the limestone hills were used by the ancient Maya for religious ceremonies and the view from atop the hills is downright spectacular.

Visitors who prefer not to venture too far from the farm can swim in a natural spring-fed pond, float down a river on inner tubes, hike, watch the birds of the tropical rainforest, or simply relax in a hammock. Also very popular are occasional games of soccer, volleyball or table tennis.

To make visitors feel at home, Finca Ixobel has its very own restaurant and offers a wide range of accommodations to suit every traveler's taste and budget.
