Coban, Semuc Champey, Lanquin and the Quetzal Biotope
The area around Coban, capital of Guatemala's Alta Verapaz department, is famous for its stunning natural beauty and has become a top destination among nature lovers and bird watchers.
The Quetzal Biotope is home to a stunning variety of flora and fauna that thrives in the high humidity of the cloud forest.
We have selected the highlights of the Alta Verapaz region and created several exciting tour packages from Antigua Guatemala, visiting
- the natural pools of Semuc Champey
- the 80 meter (260 ft) waterfalls of Rubel Chain
- the limestone caves of Lanquin
- the Quetzal Biotope, a protected area of cloud forest that's home to an incredible variety of birds, butterflies, orchids and bromelias

Package #1: 4-day, 3-night Tour to Coban, Orchid Farm, the Quetzal Biotope, Lanquin, Semuc Champey & Ram Tzul Falls with Private Van, Driver and Guide
Day 1: 7 am pickup at your hotel in La Antigua or Guatemala City and transfer by shuttle bus to the Quetzal Biotope (lunch near the biotope not included); visit the Quetzal Biotope, then transfer to Hotel Casa Duranta; in the afternoon visit the Orchid Farm then return to your hotel.
Guatemala's Alta Verapaz department is home to some of the most beautiful orchids in the world. Many of them can be seen at the Orchid Farm near Coban.
Day 2: Breakfast at 7 am; 8 am transfer to Lanquin, then by shuttle to Semuc Champey; visit the natural pools of Semuc Champey (lunch near the park); 2 pm transfer to Lanquin; visit the famous limestone caves of Lanquin then return to your hotel in Coban
Day 3: 7 am breakfast, 8am transfer by shuttle bus from Coban to Hotel Ram Tzul; 10am easy 60-minute hike with guide to Under the Stairs Fall, a magnificent 80 meter (260 ft) waterfall with a beautiful pool below; swim in the pool and under the waterfall then hike back for lunch at the hotel.
Day 4: 7am Breakfast at the hotel; 9 am transfer by shuttle bus to La Antigua or Guatemala City (lunch on the road), arriving in La Antigua around 4 pm

The limestone caves of Lanquin are probably the most famous caves in Guatemala and no tour of Alta Verapaz would be complete without visiting them.

Day 3: 8 am transfer by shuttle bus to La Antigua Guatemala, arriving in Antigua around 2 pm
